Making Our Voices Heard
We have been proactive in our information sharing, and would like to share some of the information that we've presented to our local school board and employers. We're also sharing correspondence from other sources (with their permission of course). Our hope is that some of this information might be useful for others that find themselves in similar circumstances. These sample letters might provide a good starting point to support your own efforts to make your voice heard.

Sample Email to Employer
Date: 06/17/2021
Subject: Feedback on All Employee Meeting

Overview: This is an email response to management with feedback regarding statements from the plant manager during an all employee meeting. In short, the plant manager indicated that we would have masks indefinitely based on his judgement alone because of the vaccine hesitation at our facility and in our surrounding area.

Sample Letters to School Board
Date: 05/04/2021
Subject: Letters to Accompany Presentations at Public School Board Meeting
Overview: On May 4, 2021 we attended our local school board to make presentations petitioning our school board officials to make masks optional for our children at school. We both gave 3 minute presentations, and the accompanying letters and research are included here. The School board refused to vote on the issue even after nearly 50 parents petitioned for this same cause at this particular meeting. However, SC Governor Henry McMaster issued a statewide executive order to give parents the option to opt out of the mask requirement in SC public schools.

Subject: Letter to School Board Supporting the Elimination of Mask and Plexiglass Mandates
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE AUTHORS: This letter was written by two parents for a specific school board in South Carolina.  It contains references specific to that school district as well as policies specific to South Carolina that will need to be edited or deleted to accommodate your unique situation.  However, much of this information was retained in the hopes that it helps you formulate important talking points that are relevant to your district or state.  While the information specific to the original district and state are primarily confined to the introduction and conclusion sections, please carefully review the entire letter to ensure it is pertinent to your specific circumstances and make changes as necessary.  Direct references to that school district have been replaced with <Your School District>.  These references will need to be changed to reference your district as applicable.  Finally, it was last edited on April 30, 2021 and will not reference the latest research or noteworthy news events.

Please note that there is a list of endnote references on the last page of the document as well as a graphic on the second-to-last page.

Sample Email to Employer
Date: 04/28/2021
Subject: Expressing Concerns Over Latest COVID Update
Overview: This is another email response to management where I express some Major Concerns over the latest COVID protocol update. By this point many states, including our own, had rolled back COVID-19 related mandates while my employer was instead doubling down by increasing the scope of their policy and imposing more stringent restrictions.

Sample Email to Employer
Date: 02/17/2021 - 02/18/2021
Subject: Response to Random COVID Testing Update (False Claims)
Overview: This is an email chain between me and my direct manager in response to more Random COVID Testing and false claims that the pandemic is spiraling out of control. It is best to read these from the bottom up as that's the order in which the correspondence takes place. After a relatively friendly interaction, I decided not to have this correspondence pushed up the chain for visibility. Instead, it just serves as another placeholder in the event timeline.

Sample Email to Employer
Date: 12/07/2020
Subject: Follow-up Response to Random COVID Testing Policy
Overview: This is a follow-up email that was written to management in response to the initial response received regarding the new Random COVID Testing Policy. I only received a response to the question regarding whether the participation in this new Random COVID Testing was a condition of employment, The answer was a resounding "yes", and it can be seen included in this correspondence (along with the initial correspondence presented below). I would wait a while to get responses from HR, and the only reassurance I was given when HR finally did call me on 01/21/21 was that the vaccine would not be mandatory. None of my other questions were ever answered, and they still have not been answered to this day, while the Random COVID Testing continues as of this writing (06-18-21).

Sample Email to Employer
Date: 11/25/2020
Subject: Response to Random COVID Testing Policy
Overview: This is an email that was written to management in response to a new Random COVID Testing Policy. Numerous questions were posed regarding the testing process, the efficacy of the tests, the privacy of the tests, the implications of a potentially false positive test, etc. The topic of mandatory vaccines was also broached in light of the mandatory random testing protocols being implemented. This one got the attention of HR, and I finally did start getting some responses to my questions.
